After half a century of organizing the our
emigrants visits to the old country, the
Croatian Heritage Foundation will as organize
voyages and tours under the motto «State
your wish, pay for a chosen arrangment and
let us do the rest». We’ll be offering Croatian
emigrants and to their friends of various
ages and interests a chance to get to know
the cultural and historic attraction under
the "Visit the Monuments of World Culture
Heritage in Croatia" moniker. During
the two-week tour you'll see all monuments
listed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage,
i.e These are Dubrovnik, Split (Dioklecian's
Palace), Trogir, Šibenik and Poreč
(Eufrazian's Basilica) and the Plitvica
Lakes, also listed as the World Heritage
site.
National Parks and Nature Reserves in Croatia: The Croatian Heritage Foundation will arrange (on a market basis) a two week excursion called "The National Parks and Nature Reserves of Croatia" during which Croatian emigrants and their friends will tour nature sights see competitions in ancient sports.
The tour will cover the national parks of
Brijuni (two larger and twelve smaller islands
on the west coast of Istra), Kornati (140
uninhabited islands and crags, a real labyrinth
of sea and rock), Krka (Croatia's most beautiful
karsts river, proclaimed a national park covering
the area between the towns of Knin and Skradin),
Mljet (an island northwest of Dubrovnik with
two bays that are referred to as lakes because
of their very narrow openings to the sea),
Paklenica (on the southern side of Velebit,
our largest mountain chain), the Plitvica
Lakes (the best known Croatian national park,
a part of UNESCO's world heritage), Risnjak
(a heavily-forested mountain chain north of
the city of Rijeka, surrounding the source
of the Kupa river, which, as a transitional
area between Alpine and Dinaric area, is a
habitat of numerous plant and animal species),
and Velebit (Croatia's largest and most beautiful
mountain chain, proclaimed a World Biosphere
Reserve).
The itinerary of the Croatian Nature Parks
tour would cover Biokovo, an imposing karst
mountain above the Makarska riviera; Kopački
rit, a large marshland on the mouths of the
Drava and Danube rivers, exceptionally rich
with plant and animal life; Lonjsko polje,
one of Europe's largest marshlands, located
along the Sava river, east of Sisak (oak forests
- teeming with birds, especially storks);
Medvednica, a mountain above Zagreb; Telašćica,
a narrow bay on the island of Dugi Otok, near
the Kornati National Park, with a small lake
named "Mir" (peace) and the largest
cliffs in our country (up to 180m); North
Velebit, a World Biosphere Reserve; the
Žumberak-Samobor highlands west of Zagreb;
Papuk, Slavonia's largest mountain; Učka, a
mountain chain on east side of Istra above
the Kvarner riviera; and Vransko jezero near
Zadar, the largest lake in Croatia famous
for its wealth of fish and birds.
Croatian Shrines and Sacral Art
Sights: The Croatian Heritage Foundation
will also arrange two week tours of famous
shrines and places renowned for their sacral
art such as; Beram (Saint Mary's Chapel in
Škriline with fresco paintings by Vincent
of Kastav), Vodnjan (Saint Blaž's Church with
its rare collection of relics and the mummified
bodies of five saints’), Poreč (Eufrasiana
Basilica from the 3th-6th century), then Rijeka
(the shrine of the Mother of God of Trsat),
Nin (the very small church of the Holy Cross
from 9 th century – the smallest cathedral
in the world), Zadar (Saint Donat and the
Cathedral of Saint Stošija), Sinj (shrine
of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj), Šibenik (Saint
Jakov's Cathedral), Solin (the shrine of Our
Lady of Otok), Karlovac (national shrine
of Saint Joseph on Dubovac), Krašić (birth
place of Cardinal Stepinac and the house in
which he spent his last days), Marija Bistrica
(Croatia's largest shrine dedicated to Saint
Mary), Ludbreg (shrine of the Precious Blood
of Christ), Zagreb (Saint Stjepan's Cathedral
and the tomb of Cardinal Stepinac, Saint Mark's
Church, and Saint Katarina's Church…).
Winter holidays and thermal-springs tourism for the elderly: For elderly emigrants and their friends the Croatian Heritage Foundation has packages that feature winter on the Adriatic coast and stays in Croatian medical and thermal resorts such as; Bizovac and Daruvar in Slavonia, Istarske toplice in Istra, and those in Topusko and Ivanić-Grad. Medical treatment and/or recreation is also offered on the island of Veli Lošinj, renowned for its soothing climate, and at the renowned Thalassotherapia medical resort in the town of Crikvenica.
At all these locations guests will be lodged at comfortable hotels and will be able to enjoy walks, sports (tennis, horse riding, sailing…), try the specialties of the regional cuisine and excellent wines, and take part in seasonal folklore, religious and other ceremonials and festivities.
