Molizaiko 2 Staged in Kruč, Mundimitar and Filić

Molizaiko 2, the second meeting of homeland and diaspora Croatians was organised by the Jedna Musica ethnic Croatian association of Kruč and the Mosaico Italo Croato association of Rome.

Molizaiko 2, the second such meeting of homeland and diaspora Croatians, was staged in the Italian region of Molise on the 14th and 15th of October. The event was organised by the Jedna Musica ethnic Croatian association of Kruč (Acquaviva Collecroce) and its president Antonella D´Antuono and the Mosaico Italo Croato (Italian Croatian Mosaic) association of Rome and its president Ivana Milina.
This culture promotion event, conceived as a series of presentations in a kaleidoscope of ideas of diverse content, including music, literary presentations, art exhibitions and wine and culinary presentations, was held in the settlements that are home to the ethnic Croatians of the Molise region – Kruč (Acquaviva Collercroce), Mundimitar (Montemitro) and Filić (San Felice del Molise).
On hand for the Molizaiko event were Croatian Ambassador Jasen Mesić, Croatian general consul in Trieste Nevenka Grdinić, Croatian general consul in Milan Iva Pavić, Zlata Penić Ivanko, a counsellor with the Croatian embassy to the Holy See, minister plenipotentiary Mladenka Šarac Rončević, consul counsellor Nataša Degiuli Kos and, representing the State Office for Croats Abroad, deputy state secretary Ivana Perkušić and the head of the sector for legal status, culture and education of Croats abroad Dubravka Severinski.
Molizaiko 2, the second meeting of homeland and diaspora Croatians opened at Mundimitar's Caffè Letterario on the 14th of October with an opening welcome from Ambassador Mesić. This was followed by a presentation of friar Angelo Gabriele Giorgetta's book Montemitro – storia, lingua e fede (Mundimitar – Its History, Language and Faith), which is, in a way, an introduction to the celebration of five hundred years since Croatians settled in the Molise region (the arrival of Croatians in Filić will be marked in 2018 and in Mundimitar in 2020). This in turn was followed by a presentation – organised by the Na Našo association of Mundimitar – of Giovanni Romagnoli's book Trilogia do Tege, with the poetic support of Mario Giorgetta, which describes the life and history of the Croatians of the Molise region. The book presentations closed with a folklore programme performed by the young members of Kroa Tarantata.
The event programme continued at the Caffè Letterario in Kruč, starting with God Bless, Croatia! – Greetings from the Native Land, a travelling exhibition of photography organised by the Associazione Mosaico Italo Croato Roma (Italian Croatian Mosaic Association of Rome). The exhibition was declared open by deputy state secretary Ivana Perkušić. The opening of the exhibition was followed by the presentation of Croatian language and literature teacher Ljiljana Došen's book for children Velike avanture malog Orehovića (The Grand Adventures of Little Orehović). An introductory speech was given by the head of the sector for legal status, culture and education of Croats abroad Dubravka Severinski. The programme continued later with a treasure hunt for children and adults at Nicola Neri square with the participation of the children of the Isola Croata sports association. This was followed by a folklore programme featuring the Naš Život association of Kruč and the music of Matteo Vetta.
Day one the Molizaiko event closed with a gala dinner at the Guardialifieri restaurant featuring the local culinary specialities of the Molise Croats.
Sunday the 15th of October opened with a meeting at the administrative building in Filić. On hand were representatives of the State Office for Croats Abroad, Croatian diplomatic and consular representatives in Italy and the presidents and representatives of ethnic Croatian associations in Rome and the Molise region. Also on hand for the meeting was Fausto Bellucci, the mayor of Filić and a descendant of Molise Croats.
Following the meeting Croatian general consul in Milan Iva Pavić opened the Croazia Art Attack exhibition at the Caffè Letterario in Filić. The exhibition is a collage of sorts of the work of ethnic Croatian artists from Rome, and was organized by the Associazione Mosaico Italo Croato Roma.
The event closed with a music programme for the participants of the Molizaiko event featuring Matteo Vetta and Antonella Genova, with an authentic wine and culinary exhibition of local Molise Croatian dishes and products.
