Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović has appointed Richard Patzke, the former chief executive of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Rheinhessen (IHK) and president of the German-Croatian Society, both based in Mainz, the new Croatian honorary consul in this German city.
To mark the occasion a formal reception was held at the IHK premises in Mainz on the 25th of January for Croatian and German dignitaries, including Croatian ambassador to Berlin Ranko Vilović, Croatian general consul in Frankfurt Vladimir Duvnjak, IHK president Dr Engelbert J. Günster and the president of the Croatian Culture Association of Mainz Katica Vraneša.
On behalf of the Republic of Croatia Ambassador Vilović and General Consul Duvnjak presented the letter of appointment signed by President Grabar Kitarović and presented a set of books by Croatian authors translated into German. Croatian Culture Association of Mainz president Katica Vraneša presented the new honorary consul with a recently published monograph on the association and a necktie featuring the Croatian braid design. Ambassador Ranko Vilović expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of Patzke and the excellent relations between Croatia and Germany.
Richard Patzke said he was honoured by the appointment and satisfied with the level of cooperation between the two countries, noting that Croatians and Germans are friends above all.
On hand to perform at the event were the choir and tamburitza ensemble of the Croatian Culture Association of Mainz.
